Donation

The Rio Tinto company reported on May 4 that it had donated EUR40,000 to the Red Cross organizations in Loznica and Belgrade, in order to assist the most vulnerable categories in the fight against the coronavirus.

Out of the total amount, EUR20,000 went to the Red Cross in Loznica, and the other half to Belgrade's Red Cross. The donation was used to buy essential foods and hygienic products.

The Rio Tinto director general in Serbia, Marnie Finlayson, said that the company's business partners and members of the community they worked in played a vital role in fighting the spread of the coronavirus.

Aside from the financial donation, Rio Tinto gave up government subsidies worth EUR50,000 to alleviate the negative effects of the pandemic. The company will also work to continue the implementation of the Jadar project, Rio Tinto said in a release.
