Over the past seven months, the ruling parties have absolutely dominated the central news programs of TV stations licenced for nation-wide broadcasting, while opposition groups have been virtually invisible, a study conducted by the Crta organization shows.

Crta has said that the latest statistics offer yet another indicator of a lack of political pluralism in the media, which is an extremely concerning trend as citizens are thus denied the right to objective information.

The organization said that President Aleksandar Vucic, who is the ruling Serbian Progressive Party's leader as well, was every other guest in news programs during this time, and that nearly half the time reserved for political actors went to him.

The research covered the central news programs of the state-owned RTS, Pink TV, and the Prva, Happy and B92 broadcasters, from the announcement of the official election results in July 2020 to the beginning of an inter-party dialog on March 1, 2021.
