Serbian Foreign Minister Nikola Selakovic has said he expects the Serbian parliament to debate a report on Serbia’s EU accession progress that should be adopted by the European Parliament soon.

On March 23 Selakovic told the RTV that European integration is Serbia’s political goal and that the debate will be a good opportunity for the opinions and stances of the representatives of Serbian citizens to be heard.

Selakovic also said that “the European Parliament is not a Brussels institution like the European Commission or the Council of Europe” because “in the European Parliament there are people from various parties and of various ideologies, there are lobbyists who do not hide that fact, such as Von Cramon [Viola von Cramon, a representative of the European Greens], who is lobbying in favor of the separatist creation, the so-called independent Kosovo.”

Selakovic pointed out that he agrees with the urging of the European Parliament that “so-called scandals reach court,” adding that Serbia’s judicial bodies are working on that, but that he is against the Serbian parliament passing a resolution that would interfere with their operations.

He also described as curious “that there are other politically interesting matters” the European Parliament has failed to point out, such as “for example, everything that is going on with representatives of the former regime and their foreign currency accounts with millions of Euros in various foreign countries.”
