The acting director of the Public Health Institute "Dr Milan Jovanovic Batut," Verica Jovanovic, said on April 2 that with slightly over 3,245,000 doses administered, and more than 1,3 million Serbs fully immunized, the country was "on the right path" to herd immunity, which she expected could be reached in the next few months.
Jovanovic said in an interview with the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation (RTS) that the number of new infections had dropped, which she said was a good sign.
"It's good that less than 500 Covid-19 patients have been hospitalized over the past few days. It is equally important that according to the latest reports there have been less than 2,000 new infections, which is a good prognostic indicator," Jovanovic said.
Jovanovic announced that in the next two weeks the number of vaccinated people in Serbia would be over two million, appealing to the citizens to continue to wear face masks, maintain physical distance and avoid unnecessary contacts.
