Professor Biljana Stojkovic of the Assembly of Free Serbia on Dec. 21 said that the Serbian president and the Serbian Progressive Party leader, Aleksandar Vucic, liked to discredit his “inapt” associates, but did not dare to replace or punish them.

Stojkovic told BETA that over the past decade, it had been discovered that a large number of Progressives’ officials holding state posts had been involved in affairs for which they should be dismissed and tried for criminal offenses, but that all had ended with warnings of “their boss.”

“We have been witnessing a classical system of mafia rule with a strict and dangerous boss at its helm, while somewhere down are ‘little soldiers’ doing dirty work. In this system, it is important to the boss that all those ‘little soldiers’ feel they are under his protection which gives him the right to constantly bully them and keep them under control,” Stojkovic stressed.

She added the Vucic dared not punish anyone as in such an organization everyone had a drawer full of compromising documents against others. “This regime, with the same people, has been in power too long and that is why all of them have information about each other on dirty jobs in which all have been involved. Vucic has been protecting them all, but on the condition that they keep silent about all criminal undertakings they have done together. They have to protect each other as that is how they buy silence among themselves,” Stojkovic said.
