At midnight on April 13, electoral silence began due to the repeat votes to be held at several dozen polling stations throughout Serbia on April 16.
The parliamentary elections will be repeated at a total of 54 polling stations, while the presidential vote will be repeated at 35 locations. With regards to the elections for Belgrade’s local administration, the capital’s Electoral Commission decided to repeat the vote at six stations.
Serbia’s Regulatory Authority of Electronic Media (REM) asked all media providers to adhere to the regulations on pre-election silence.
“In the 48 hours prior to Election Day and on Election Day itself until polling stations close, it is prohibited to broadcast in the media or at public gatherings estimations of election results, to publicly present the candidates for members of Parliament/local Assembly or their platforms, or to call on voters to offer/deny support to certain election tickets,” the REM recalled in its statement.
The election silence will last until polling stations close, at eight o’clock in the evening of April 16.
