Serbian Minister of Trade Tomislav Momirovic said on Dec. 28 that the prices of basic food products would remain the same, but that other products would be more expensive, because, as he put it, “bread is more important than a deodorant.”
“We have managed to freeze the prices of sugar, flour, oil, milk, beef and pork, and keep them as low as possible,” Momirovic said in an interview with the Prva TV.
The trade minister said that not all prices could be controlled, because the war in Ukraine had caused a crisis spreading across Europe. Momirovic also said that it would be irresponsible to say what prices would go up in the coming period.
