Newly appointed British Ambassador to Serbia Edward Ferguson on July 25 said he wished to revitalize historically good relations between London and Belgrade, stressing he believed the potential was huge to further enhance bilateral cooperation.
On July 25, Ferguson handed credentials to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic thereby officially assuming the post of the ambassador of the United Kingdom, Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Serbia.
Ambassador Ferguson said he believed there was huge potential to boost bilateral collaboration in the domains of trade, technology, environmental protection, culture, and education, according to a release from the British Embassy.
Before assuming the post in Serbia, Ferguson served as minister counsellor defense at the British Embassy in Washington DC, where he led the British Defense Staff (United States), a network of 1,000 people spread across 28 States, and was responsible for UK-US collaboration on strategic planning, nuclear policy and programs, trade and acquisition, and science and technology.
From 2014 to 2018, he served as British ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, where together with German colleagues he created a new international strategy, which re-energized Euro-Atlantic integration and social and economic reforms after years of stagnation, it is said in the statement.
