Extraordinary parliamentary elections are in store for Serbia, with the earliest possible date being Dec. 17, the Vecernje Novosti reported in its Sept. 7 edition.

According to the daily, it remains uncertain whether a vote for Belgrade’s local government will be called at the same time – an issue which the leadership of Serbia’s dominant political option, the Serbian Progressive Party, will be discussing over the next few days.

The paper recalled that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Progressive Party of Serbia leader Milos Vucevic held a meeting with their fellow party members from Vojvodina two days ago. The joint conclusion of the sit-down was that elections are drawing near and that the party must prepare to start campaigning.
