Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said during a June 21 telephone conversation with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron that in order to resolve the Kosovo issue, it was important for it to "stay high on the European Union's agenda."

"As Europe goes through a period of transition and uncertainty, I have underscored the importance of continuity in addressing issues significant to Serbia, particularly regarding Kosovo and Metohija and the conditions in which the disenfranchised Serb community lives there," Vucic wrote on Instagram.

The president said he reiterated that the Kosovo issue should remain high on the EU agenda, along with strong diplomatic efforts to secure full implementation of the Brussels Agreement and the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities as a basis for building sustainable peace and establishing security safeguards for the Serb people.

Vucic also said that "I asked Macron" to "stand by Serbia on its difficult path towards preserving peace and stability, despite all of the hardships that it encounters along the way." "I have underlined that advocating dialogue remains the cornerstone of Serbia's regional policy, and the most important factor in resolving the difficult issues that lie ahead of us," Vucic added.
