The Alliance for Serbia assessed on July 1 that the statement of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic that he would "not allow the opposition to prevent elections from being held" demonstrated "the gravity of the situation which Serbia is in."
In the statement, the opposition coalition suggested that it would participate in the elections, which should be held in spring 2020, only if the authorities fulfill their conditions.
"In the opposite case, that would not be elections and we would not recognize them, nor the bodies formed on the basis of such manipulation," he Alliance pointed out.
According to the Alliance for Serbia, holding elections against the Constitution and laws and forming of the government on the basis of such elections would represent "a coup d'état."
On Aug. 1 Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that he would not allow the opposition to prevent elections from being held.
This is not going to happen, Vucic told Pink TV.
