Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo on June 9 visited a construction site in Nis where Chinese company Xingyu Automotive Lighting Systems has been building a plant, under a EUR60 million investment.

Brnabic said that the factory for producing automotive lamps would be completed next February. In the first phase, the company will create some 1,000 jobs, and will mainly export to Germany, France and Slovakia.

Brnabic said that Xingyu Automotive Lighting Systems was among the world’s biggest and most successful companies in the industry and that it would contribute to the development of Serbia’s “economy, GDP and ‘Nis’ blood panel.’” She thanked Ambassador Chen on her support, saying that “she equally struggles for Chinese companies and Serbia.”

Ambassador Chen said she “is pleasantly surprised with a number of projects that have been progressing quickly.” She recalled that “works were not suspended for a single day during the epidemic. It shows goods business environment in Nis and Serbia.” The ambassador added she expected more Chinese companies to show interest in investing in Nis and Serbia.
