The motor vehicles tax is to be radically reduced in Slovenia according to a draft law put forward by the government on Nov. 19, while the additional tax on luxury cars with engine volume upwards of 2.5 liters is to be annulled, SEEbiz reports.
The average motor vehicles tax, which is currently around EUR460, will be cut to around 160, Finance Minister Andrej Sircelj told a press conference.
That will reduce three times the tax which has been too high until now, he said.
Estimates say that after the new law comes into effect in early 2021, the state revenue from that source, which has so far added up to EUR45m, will be reduced to 16m, because of lower consumption, among other things, but is expected to increase later.
