Serbian Chamber of Commerce president Marko Cadez has said that annual trade between Serbia and Croatia equals around EUR1 billion and that there are over 1,000 Croatian owned companies in Serbia.

"Numerous Croatian companies have bought companies in Serbia, and there is a growing number of Serbian companies that have successfully invested in Croatia's economy. Economic cooperation did not stop even when political relations between the two countries were strained, nor when the world was closed by the coronavirus pandemic," Cadez said in an interview with the Feb. 4 edition of the Hrvatska weekly.

The Agency for Economic Registers has registered 1,039 companies that are majority-owned by Croatian companies or citizens, and it is estimated that Croatian companies have invested nearly EUR900m in Serbia.

Cadez said that according to the Central Register of Mandatory Social Insurance, Croatian companies employ around 10,000 workers in Serbia.
