Social Democratic Party Leader Boris Tadic said on April 6 that the authorities are not just fighting against the COVID-19 epidemic but are using the situation to lead “the most brutal campaign” any official had every waged in Serbia’s recent history.
"Vucic is not only a person above all laws and institutions, he is also there to discipline the nation; in his daily Orwellian addresses he personally deals with every detail, all decisions depend on his good will, all the help received is the result of his personal contacts and so on", Tadic, a former Serbian president, said for the April 6 issue of the Danas daily.
This, Tadic believes, "creates a false impression that the destiny of each person in Serbia lies in [Vucic’s] hands and anyone who survives should be grateful to him personally". Tadic also thinks that "certain doctors have [obviously] been chosen to [pose as] media doctors and public supporters of this government".
According to Tadic, one cannot trust the doctors who criticize the citizens, but who were silent when the authorities were ridiculing the virus at the time these very citizens had already been infected.
