The Serbian minister for innovation and technological development and the chairman of the Inter-governmental committee for cooperation with Russia, Nenad Popovic, met on April 15 with the delegation of Russian experts, who have supervised the filling of the first control series of the Sputnik V vaccine by the Torlak Institute for Virology, Vaccines and Serums in Belgrade, stated the minister's office.

According to the statement, Russian representatives said that the dynamic with which Serbia was establishing the production of the Sputnik V vaccine was exceptional.

Popovic said that samples would be sent to the Gamaleya Institute in Moscow by the end of this week, to analyze the quality of the filled vaccines. He said that Russian partners were very pleased with the technological and personnel capacities of the Torlak Institute.

"Immediately after the establishing of the first phase of production, which envisages transporting the substance from Russia under special conditions, filling into doses under highest standards, packaging and distribution of the vaccine, we are ready to start the second phase – producing the substance at the Torlak Institute," he stated.
