15 people died from the coronavirus in Serbia in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of fatalities since the start of the epidemic to 6,725, it was announced on the covid19.rs web-site on May 19.

According to the announcement, the presence of the virus has been confirmed in 609 cases out of 10,761 samples. There are 2,289 patients currently being treated in hospitals, 80 of them on ventilators.

Epidemiologist Predrag Kon stated on May 19 that there was no fixed date after which large gatherings at festivals or celebrations would be allowed. Kon stated that June 21, the date for which that was announced, "had been imposed by the event industry" and could be changed, depending on the situation with the epidemic.

"What is needed is that 50 percent of the population is vaccinated with both doses and that two weeks had passed after their second dose," said Kon, who is also a member of the Crisis Headquarters for suppressing the covid-19 epidemic.
