Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Tatjana Matic said on Sept. 8 that the coronavirus status in Serbia was "alarming," and that Serbia was likely to get back to the European Union's red list.

Matic explained in an interview with the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation (RTS) that travel restrictions for Serbian travellers would be tightened, adding though that each member state can act independently, just like the Czech Republic, which placed Serbia on the red list two days ago.

The minister said that she expected the countries placing Serbia on the red list over the most recent surge in the number of coronavirus infections to set as entry requirements accepted vaccines, a negative PCR test or quarantine, suggesting that Serbian travellers should check these requirements while planning a visit to those states.
