If united, Serbia's opposition might be quite successful in an upcoming vote in Belgrade, and even win the capital, the Demostat's programme director Zoran Panovic said on Oct. 25.
Panovic explained that polls had shown that the opposition "as it is" was unlikely to win outside the capital, because the Serbian Progressive Party enjoyed "overwhelming" voter support across Serbia.
"A less homogeneous opposition is far less likely to succeed. Polls have indicated that opposition supporters differ less than opposition leaders. It's only logical, because the roots of most opposition parties lie in one or two parties. The voters have been more or less the same, but the leaders have parted ways," Panovic said in an interview with N1 TV.
The Demostat director said that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic was "absolutely" the most promising candidate in the next presidential race, and that the Freedom and Justice Party was the strongest opposition party, which, as he put it, also depended on the constituency.
