Zorana Mihajlovic (BETAPHOTO/MINISTRY of MINING and ENERGY/ZORAN PETROVIC)

Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic said on Aug. 11 that "the state is doing and will do everything that it can" to ensure sufficient amounts of energy for the up-coming winter and that owing to financial stability it was capable of ensuring energy safety.

Mihajlovic reiterated for Kurir TV that the price of electricity was the lowest in Europe in spite of an announced price hike. She said that this step was necessary given higher costs in the entire chain of production but that despite the price increase the cost of electricity would remain the lowest in Europe.

She said that the only way out for the Serbian energy sector was investment, especially in reversible hydropower plants and renewable energy resources through strategic partnerships. She added that she expected the new cabinet to be strong and have authority and that the cabinet's goals and vision were more important than the choice of personnel.

In her appearance on Kurir TV she said that the attacks on her could not cancel out the results that she had achieved. She stressed that the most important thing was defining the cabinet's goals and then seeing who was capable of achieving these goals and visions.
