Serbia has implemented the majority of recommendations for preventing corruption among the members of parliament, judges and prosecutors, the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) announced on May 30.
In its annual report for 2023, this Council of Europe’s (CoE) body stated that, until the end of last year, when the fourth round of monitoring was completed, Serbia has implemented 82 percent of recommendations. Of the total of 17 recommendations, 14 have been implemented fully and three partially. Finland and Norway are the only countries to have completely implemented all the recommendations of GRECO pertaining to the MPs, judges and prosecutors.
Luxembourg follows with 93 percent of implemented recommendations, Lithuania with 92 percent, Albania with 90, the United Kingdom with 88, the U.S. with 75 and Montenegro with 73 percent.
In its annual report for 2023, GRECO urged the governments to adopt stricter regulations against corruption and for the promotion of integrity of the highest state functions, particularly in the context of lobbying and contacts with third parties.
