Kosovo President Concerned over EU Council’s Decision to Abolish Visas for Serbs

Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani stated on July 24, during a meeting with U.S. Ambassador Jeffrey Hovenier, that she was concerned with the decision of the Council of the European Union to abolish visas for the Serb “citizens of Kosovo who are holders of illegal Serb passports.”

According to the statement, Osmani said that “abolishing visas for the Serbs with illegal passports negatively affects the scope of the rule of low in entire Kosovo.”

During the meeting, it was added in the statement, they also discussed the president’s participation in activities within the NATO summit, on the invitation of U.S. President Joseph Biden and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

Osmani underscored “the positive effect Kosovo’s membership in NATO would have on sustainable and lasting peace and security.”
