Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has stated that he and Republika Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik had a very good conversation, dominated by economic matters.

Vucic, who met with Dodik one day after the director of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, William Burns, visited Sarajevo and Belgrade, wrote in a post on Instagram that he and the leader of RS performed “a joint analysis of global and regional circumstances.”

The meeting was also attended by Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic, with one of the discussed topic being the fight against illegal migration, Vucic stated.  “President Dodik and I paid special attention on the infrastructural, road, railway and energy connections between Serbia and Srpska,” added Vucic, who met during the day with Russian Ambassador Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko.

On Aug. 21, one day after Burns’ visit to Sarajevo, Dodik stated that Republika Srpska had never contested the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina and that “secession was never the policy” of that entity, but that it had “the right to the political struggle for its status, in keeping with the Dayton agreement.”
