Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric said in a Sept. 27 interview with the Voice of America (VoA) that Serbia was trying to maintain a "balanced foreign policy" with its channels of communication open to everyone in the international community.

Djuric emphasized that Serbia had a crystal clear stance on the war in Ukraine: it supported Ukraine's territorial integrity within the United Nations and in other forums. "We firmly and consistently adhere to international law, not only on this issue, but on all other issues" he said, adding though that "the problem is that not everyone applies the same standards when it comes to this issue."

"We are trying to convince our partners and the people we talk to in the international community that the territorial integrity of Serbia is no less valuable than the territorial integrity of any other country," the Serbian minister said.

The minister, who also met in New York with the families of Israelis held hostage by the Palestinian Hamas in the Gaza Strip, said that Serbia "strongly condemned Hamas' terrorist act" and called for a de-escalation of tensions. Djuric noted that he had held over 30 meetings with colleagues from around the world at the U.N., and that he participated in several international meetings.
