Serbian Minister of Information and Telecommunications Dejan Ristic said on Oct. 10 that the first results of a dialogue between the media and ministry had shown this year that for the first time all of the obliged municipalities and local self-administrations had conducted media contests.
“Through intense dialogue we have succeeded in achieving the first results that will contribute to better cooperation between journalists and journalistic societies,” Ristic said on Prva TV. He added that the Serbian Cabinet cared about the safety of journalists and that this year 40 percent less cases of the obstruction of their work and threatening of their safety were registered.
He also said that “deep and complex divisions inside the media scene” existed. He recalled that there were 2,193 print media outlets and broadcasters and 76 organizations in Serbia.
Asked about the introduction of 5G mobile network technology he said that a debate on the rulebook for introducing it had been wrapped up. “The procedure for introducing the 5G network and renewing licenses for the 2G, 3G and 4G network would be completed by mid-next year,” Ristic said.
