Riho Terras, rapporteur for Kosovo before the European Parliament, said on Dec. 9 that the "criminals" responsible for setting off explosives at the Ibar-Lepenac channel in northern Kosovo must be brought to justice.
At the beginning of a three-day stay in Kosovo, whose itinerary includes visits to the northern municipalities, Terras told a news conference in Pristina that Kosovo had made progress in some of the reforms it has launched.
Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, Assembly Speaker Glauk Konjufca and Premier Albin Kurti asked Terras for the lifting of measures against Kosovo and support from international partners in investigating the attack on the Ibar-Lepenac channel.
According to a press release from the president's office, Osmani said it was important for the international community to take a united stand against destabilizing actions by Serbia, including the act of aggression from September 2023 and the latest "terrorist attack" on Kosovo's vital infrastructure.
Kurti urged for the lifting of European Union measures against Pristina and stressed the importance of Kosovo being accepted as a candidate member for the EU as soon as possible.
