The BETA News Agency and the Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia (NUNS) announced on Feb. 21 the fourth annual contest for the Dragan Janjic Award for best works in the area of media literacy.

Dragan Janjic’s legacy involves two awards - one for Master’s and Ph.D. students, and another for undergraduate students from all universities in Serbia, each of which equal RSD160,000. Both individual and group submissions are eligible. If a group submission includes students from different categories, the applicants must specify which category they are applying for.

Another requirement is that the works were produced between March 15, 2024, and April 15, 2025. All innovative and original works are welcome, regardless of their format (print, TV, audiovisual, multimedia, etc.), as long as they critically examine media practices and highlight the importance of media literacy to both professionals and the broader public. The deadline for submissions is April 15, 2025.

The goal of the competition is to bring media literacy closer to the public through a variety of contemporary multimedia approaches that explore different themes and ideas within this interdisciplinary field. The competition encourages all members of the academic community to reflect on media literacy and its various dimensions, with a special emphasis on younger generations.
