Companies from five European Union countries and some of the associations of European railway industry leaders have cancelled their participation in the 5th international exhibition “South East Europe Mobility 2025” in Belgrade, over concerns that Serbia was unsafe for their representatives, the Railway Cluster for South-East Europe organization, which is the organizer of the fair, announced on March 5.
The exhibition has been in preparation for more than a year and should have been held on April 24 and 25 in Belgrade, with the participation, for the first time jointly, of the representatives of the three largest European railway industry associations: the International Union of Railways, the European Rail Supply Industry Association, which rallies 100 most important companies in the European railway industry, and the European Railway Clusters Initiative.
The companies have stated that Serbia was currently unsafe for their representatives due to the expulsion of persons from EU countries participating in international conferences, by the state organs of Serbia, and the public targeting of directors of renowned European companies in Serbia.
They also cited the warnings of their countries’ foreign ministries and embassies, about top Serbian political representatives having been accusing the “West”, Europe and EU member countries for months now in their public statements, of staging a “color revolution” in Serbia and labeling foreigners as enemies, because of which, they stated, the safety of business people coming to Serbia could be in jeopardy.
