The victims of the NATO aggression on the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1999 would not and must not be forgotten, but Serbia’s citizens had to forgive, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said in the evening on March 24, the date when NATO launched its air campaign 26 years ago.

“They killed our children, we will not forget and we must not forget that. However, as our (Serbian) Patriarch (Porfirje) said – we have to forgive, but we must never ever forget,” Vucic said.

Speaking at the event held in memory of the victims of the 1999 NATO aggression held at the Batajnica airport, near Belgrade, Vucic stressed that in retaliation to those events, there should be no hate or violence by anyone.

“We do not want violence, they may be committing it on a daily basis, they may do whatever they please ...while we will be reaching out our hands, seeking peace and trying to preserve peace,” he said.
