Serbian caretaker Prime Minister and president of the Serbian Progressive Party Milos Vucevic said on April 4 that a new prime minister-designate would probably form a new government by April 18, but that there was still a small chance that elections would be held.

Speaking as a guest on a show on Prva TV, Vucevic said that the prime minister-designate would have the difficult task of putting together a cabinet and writing an exposé in seven to 10 days.

"I think that we are much closer to the election of a new government, but I cannot rule out the possibility of elections. In the event that we have no agreement, that the prime minister-designate cannot complete the whole story in the sense of setting up the entire cabinet, I leave a small reservation that this scenario is possible, too. If the new prime minister-designate asks me for advice, I will tell them to roll up their sleeves and go into the whole thing with a dose of optimism," said Vucevic.

After consultations with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on a new prime minister-designate on April 3, Vucevic said that the coalition gathered around the Progressive party believed there should be no new elections, and that it would nominate two candidates for PM-designate to the president.

He also said that one of the goals of the new government would be "social dialogue," and that he was "in favor of the idea" of students coming out with their own ticket if elections were held.
