Lawyer Milan Pavkovic, one of the defenders of the activists and students who have been arrested for the alleged attempt at undermining the constitutional order, stated on May 15 that Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabic was deliberately spreading misinformation about that case.

“There is no truth in Ana Brnabic’s claims that the recording of the conversation on the basis of which the activists and students were indicted was delivered by one of the participants in that conversation. This is one more in a series of attempts to spread misinformation, which the state organs have been doing since the very start of this case,” Pavkovic told BETA.

He added that he recording of the wiretapped conversation had been classified as “strictly confidential.”

“We urge all the state organs to cease spreading misinformation, because the incarcerated people dwell in very harsh conditions. Such statements are deliberate attempts to deceive the public. The statement of Ana Brnabic does not correspond to the facts,” Pavkovic stated.

Brnabic has stated that the activists in Novi Sad were arrested for plotting “terrorist action, starting a civil war and threatening the life of Aleksandar Vucic.” She said that the recording of the meeting of activists of the Movement of Free Citizens and of the STAV organization, which was broadcast by several pro-regime television stations on March 14, “was made by one of the activists, who surrendered it to the state organs,” and added that it was “problematic that this had not been recorded by the security services.”
