The Higher Court in Belgrade has placed five people in detention of up to 30 days on suspicion that they were preparing a violent change of government in Serbia, and one of them has been given an electronic ankle tag.
The suspects were questioned at the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade and they all denied the criminal offense they are being accused of, says an announcement published on the Prosecutor's Office website.
All the suspects are charged with the criminal offense of calling for a violent change of constitutional order stated in Article 309 of the Criminal Code, while two are also charged with illegal carrying of weapons.
The statement by the Prosecutor's Office says that the suspects held a meeting at a hotel in Kraljevo on June 21, 2025 and were "planning a violent change of government in Serbia."
