The speaker of the Serbian parliament, Ana Brnabic, stated in a message to the European Parliament’s rapporteur for Serbia, Tonino Picula, on Aug. 21 that Serbia did not want to join the union that he represented.
Picula has stated that all relevant political factors in the EU no longer had any illusion about who Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic was and what type of regime he was maintaining, and assessed that Serbia could not become an EU member in this state.
“That’s the way Picula! Now you’re talking. It only remains for the EU to confirm the words of a man who, on the anniversary of the biggest ethnic cleansing on European soil in the past 80 years, posts a photo posing with a gun, proud of having personally participated in that crime,” Brnabic wrote in a post on X. “Anyway, not to keep Picula guessing – here comes the answer: Serbia DOES NOT WANT to join this union that Picula represents,” she declared.
She further declared that Picula was not the EU, although he wanted to make it seem that way. “Picula is progressively becoming a problem of that very EU, not of ours,” stated the Serbian parliament speaker.
