Ivan Ninic (Media Center Belgrade)
Lawyer Ivan Ninic filed a criminal complaint on Aug. 25 against three unidentified individuals with the Cybercrime Department of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office over a video posted on social media in which an allegation was made that he collaborated with Albanians in Kosovo, and was an agent of the U.S. intelligence agency CIA.
In a comment for N1 he denied the allegations, adding that he was targeted because he had repeatedly represented the students and activists critical of the government.
The lawyer suggested that the creators of the video were likely connected to the Telegram group "Koridor," which, according to Ninic claims, was once linked to a former vice president of the Serb Ticket, Milan Radoicic.
"The Telegram group 'Koridor' operates in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija. Behind the group are certain journalists whose activities are financed by the Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija, and the content is supplemented by the Security and Information Agency (BIA)," the lawyer said.
Momcilo Bulatovic, president of the Belgrade Bar Association, told BETA that the authorities should take all necessary steps to find out who had ordered and published the video targeting lawyer Ivan Ninić.
The Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) warned that the campaign against Ninic, as well as the targeting of TV stations Nova S and N1, amounted to a call for lynching. The association recalled that a Kosovo Serb politician, Oliver Ivanovic, was similarly targeted through a media campaign and a video full of lies, after which he was killed in 2018.
