The Socialists and Democrats group in the European Parliament has called on the European Union (EU) and the international community to react to the case of detained Serbian student Bogdan Jovicic, whose life, according to them, is in danger because of politically motivated incarceration in Serbia.
"The EU must not remain silent while a young man's life is endangered for expressing his political views," the second-largest caucus in the EP said in a post on X late on Sept. 18.
The group urged the Serbian authorities to provide "clear and verifiable" information on Bogdan's location, his health and the reason for his detention.
Let’s talk about Bogdan Jovičić - a Serbian student whose life is at risk due to politically motivated detention in Serbia.

Student Bogdan Jovicic was arrested during the night between Aug. 14 and 15, after the premises of the Serbian Progressive Party in Novi Sad were demolished during a protest rally, and is charged with the criminal offense of violent behavior at a public gathering. After his detention was extended, he started a hunger strike and was transferred from the Novi Sad prison to a prison hospital in Belgrade in the afternoon on Sept. 17.
