Paratroopers jumping out of planes ended a military parade called, “The Power of Unity” in Belgrade, on Sept. 20, marking the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom, and the National Flag. The event featured 10,000 troops, 2,500 pieces of weaponry and military equipment, more than 600 vehicles, 70 aircraft, and 20 vessels.

The parade included infantry units armed with Ground Force weapons, flyovers by recently purchased planes and helicopters, and River Flotilla ships.

A special attraction was a flyover by two French Rafale fighter jets, which Serbia ordered recently, and which also returned immediately to France. For the first time, the long-range multiple rocket launcher PULS, purchased from Israel, was presented. Also on display were various types of drones, which gained prominence during the war in Ukraine.

The parade was attended by members of the diplomatic corps, the president of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a high-ranking delegation from Bahrain, as well as military delegations from France, China, Hungary, and the National Guard of the U.S. state of Ohio. Also present were representatives of Serbs in the region, Andrija Mandic and Milan Knezevic of Montenegro, Republika Srpska’s Zeljka Cvijanovic, Milorad Dodik, and Nenad Stevandic, Belgrade Mayor Aleksandar Sapic, a former Serbian president, Tomislav Nikolic, incumbent ministers, and other officials.

At 3:00 p.m., a ceremony was held during which Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic handed out decorations to mark the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom, and the National Flag. Following the parade, Vucic wrote on Instagram: “This is our strength. The strength of unity! This is also the survival and victory of Serbia, which wants peace and prosperity and knows how to protect its dignity, territory, and future.”
