Nemanja Starovic (BETAPHOTO/MILAN ILIC)
Joining the European Union is not only Serbia’s strategic priority but also the country’s strategic choice, European Integration Minister Nemanja Starovic said in an interview for BETA. He also recalled that although the European Commission’s annual report on Serbia did include criticism it did not state that Belgrade has regressed in any of the accession negotiation chapters either.
For early 2026, the minister announced a “big informational [and] media campaign to educate the public on the benefits the EU offers to Serbia.”
Asked about specific steps the Serbian government plans to take so the country’s Eurointegration regain momentum, Starovic explained that the adoption of “new legal solutions” is in progress.
The minister concluded by underlining that Serbia’s path to the EU must be led by its own national interests.
