Political analyst Ilir Deda said on Jan. 17 that after "mass" electoral fraud in the Dec. 28, 2025 extraordinary elections in Kosovo it would be a matter of the "state of law and rule of law" if the commissioners who counted the ballots "end up in prison" for this, along with those who "gave the orders."
The ballot recount process which is underway at the local counting center, has shown that votes were taken from many candidates and added to others. Deda said in a Facebook post that this meant that hundreds of commissioners from all political parties had committed the felony of mass electoral fraud in the elections for members of the Kosovo Assembly, adding that the question now was would they wind up in prison or be fined adding that this would be a measure of the state of law and rule of law.
According to him, it is obvious that Kosovo needs an election model that completely removes the human factor. As for parties, the least that should happen is for there to be consequences for those who gave the orders for this huge manipulation, he said.
According to the recount so far at 316 of a total 914 polling places, almost 15,000 ballots were stolen. According to Kosovo's Central Electoral Commission, 7,719 ballots were misattributed to the the Democratic Party of Kosovo, 2,947 to the Self-Determination Movement, 1,676 to the Democratic Alliance of Kosovo, and 639 to the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo.
