Serbian president and Serbian Progressive Party leader Aleksandar Vucic made a statement on Dec. 5 claiming that he was not aware that the party sympathizers were organizing support gatherings in towns throughout Serbia, and asked them not to do it any more.

“I’m immensely grateful. Nobody asked me nor informed me [about these gatherings], but it shows they’ve got emotions and are worried about the future. There’s no need for these gatherings, they [the opponents] cannot hurt me,” said Vucic following the official commencement of the construction works on the highway between Sabac and Ruma.

Vucic called upon his supporters to stay in their warm homes and continue their work, and that the fruits of their labor will be visible in the coming spring elections.

The president believes that nothing and no one can beat another person’s hard work.

Wanting to demonstrate just how energetic and active he is, Vucic recounted an anecdote which involves his Bulgarian friend who, seeing how busy the president was, compared him to a rocket.

He also added that his political opponents claiming there is an ongoing campaign against them, make him laugh.

“What witch-hunt? Fellas, I wasn’t the one putting targets on people’s heads, you put one on mine. These are but perverse inversions, which one can only laugh off and nothing else,” Vucic added.
