The Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued the order on July 23 for the issuing of an international arrest warrant for Mile Ujic, accused for war crimes during the war in Bosnia in the area of Rogatica.

“The Court’s Appellate Chamber ruled that the accused Mile Ujic was to be remanded in custody for up to one year, starting from the day of his arrest,” the Court representatives told the Detektor portal while announcing that the order had been given for the issuing of the international arrest warrant.

Earlier, the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina called for Ujic to be remanded in custody because he might escape, since the Court Police were unable to serve him the subpoena at his home address after several attempts. Earlier, the Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina reversed the first-instance ruling from April last year, which acquitted Ujic of charges for crimes in the area of Rogatica.

According to the indictment, Ujic commanded a group of 50 members of the Gucevo company in an attack on the village of Kozadre on Aug. 2, 1992. He is charged with murder, inflicting wounds, forced relocation, incarceration and other acts against persons of Bosniac nationality.
