Serbia Gearing Up for Brunt of Coronavirus Epidemic

The coronavirus epidemic in Serbia is on the upswing, but the situation is not yet as dramatic as in Italy and some other countries. Three people died and the number of infected rose to 301 by 3 p.m. on March 24, the authorities said. A total of 152 people have been hospitalized, 21 are on ventilators and they are in serious condition. Eight patients on ventilators are at Belgrade’s Clinic for Infectious Diseases, five are at the Clinical Center in Nis and four each at the clinical centers in Kragujevac and Novi Sad. The average age of those infected with coronavirus in Serbia is 50 and two-thirds of them are male. Fifteen people recovered from the infection by March 24.
