Agreement on Kosovo New Cabinet Not Yet in Sight

Somewhat unexpectedly, the momentum of talks on Kosovo’s new government has faltered, and when and how they might end is anyone’s guess. What is certain though is that talks to normalize relations between Serbia and Kosovo will be delayed again. Serbia has made the negotiations conditional on a government decision to remove a 100-percent tariff on products from Serbia and Bosnia, and it cannot be done until the new cabinet is in place. In addition, a regular parliamentary vote is due in Serbia next spring, pushing the talks back to mid-2020 or even next autumn.
