On Sept. 6 the Serbian parliament adopted a revised budget for this year which the authorities have crafted as part of a de facto election campaign in which they are handing out money from the state treasury. Two days after the budget was adopted, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced additional payouts to pensioners and lower prices for 20 staples that citizens buy on a daily basis.
