Novi Pazar is one of the few cities with a multi-ethnic population where no inter-ethnic conflicts occurred during the wars in the former Yugoslavia back in the 1990s, nor were there major tensions between the majority Bosniak population and a Serb minority in the region. This year, however, two worrying incidents have been reported during religious holidays, traditionally celebrated with mutual respect, greetings and appreciation.
