All stores in the four Serb-majority municipalities in northern Kosovo were closed on July 1, the reason being the 100-percent import tariffs Pristina imposed seven months ago on all goods from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Aside from stores, supermarkets and wholesale venues, also closed are hospitality venues, storage facilities, hardware stores, bakeries, pharmacies, hair salons and body shops. This is, therefore, a sort of strike formally organized by the Association of Businesspeople from northern Kosovo. The whole endeavor is strongly supported by the government in Belgrade and is highly political.
