The Serbian ruling bloc’s announcement that it will lower the threshold for entry into the parliament in the election due this coming spring from five to three percent, will not motivate the opposition parties announcing an election boycott to abandon that plan. Representatives of the Movement of Free Citizens, a pro-European political group still on the fence about partaking in the election, say that if the threshold really is lowered that will be an additional reason to opt for a boycott rather than to drop it. Members of the largest opposition bloc, the Alliance for Serbia, earlier made a decision to boycott the upcoming election and sources from the bloc say that decision will not change.
