A total of 87 police employees have been tested positive for the coronavirus, while 840 have been under self-isolation, Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic has said.

“A few days ago, 920 staff members were positive, but the number has been decreasing. Some have already returned to their daily tasks and many have recovered,” Stefanovic has told the April 10 issue of Belgrade daily Blic.

Commenting on the weekend curfew, which will be in force from 5 pm on April 10 to 5 am on April 13, Stefanovic said he expected the citizens to obey the curfew as they were aware that the number of new coronavirus cases depended on their behavior and that these measures were meaningful as they served to protect lives.

Stefanovic also said that during the state of emergency, Serbia had seen a drop in crime rate of some 55 percent.
