Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic reiterated on Sept. 4 that a paragraph on mutual recognition that had appeared in a document proposal offered up by the U.S. to Belgrade at a round of negotiations with Pristina at the White House had no importance, explaining that it would not be in the final "economic document" which was due to be signed on Sept. 4.
Dacic told Prva TV that the U.S. had merely wanted to appease Pristina and try and see if it would fly, because, if it had been really important, it would have been point one, not point ten in the document.
Dacic repeated that Serbia wanted a compromise in resolving the Kosovo issue and would accept no ultimatums. He said he could see nothing bad in a political issue emerging in addition to the announced economic subjects, as this only showed that the status of Kosovo was not resolved and that Washington was aware of that.
Commenting on an announcement from the White House that U.S. President Donald Trump would attend the signing the "economic document," Dacic described this as highly significant because his presence would mean he would be a guarantor for what would be signed.
