Healthcare Minister Zlatibor Loncar said on Dec. 9 that the healthcare system hasn’t collapsed, but is fighting.

“We will have to fight by the next summer,” Loncar told the RTS public service, adding that according to him Serbia is treating by far the biggest number of patients even in Europe.

“The treatment begins on time. We have a problem when the patients seek medical help too late,” Loncar said and pointed out that he is against New Year’s celebrations and parties and that the best solution should be found for ski resorts.

“Our measures are efficient, but it is not realistic to expect them to produce results faster,” Loncar said.

Speaking about the new covid hospital in Belgrade’s suburb of Batajnica, the minister said that it is fully equipped, that it has X ray imaging, a surgery department, and a maternity ward.
