In the last 24 hours 51 people died of COVID-19, while the death toll since the start of the epidemic in Serbia is 8,788, according to a statement posted on the covid19.rs website.
Out of the 19,360 people tested in the last 24 hours 5,700 tested positive for the virus. The number of COVID-19 patients being treated in hospitals is 6,597, of whom 260 are on ventilators.
World Health Organization (WHO) Representative in Serbia Marijan Ivanusa said on Oct. 11 that the fact that at least 50 people died on a daily basis was the high cost of the coronavirus pandemic in Serbia.
As a guest on N1 TV, Ivanusa told Serbian citizens that if they wanted to have a peaceful Christmas and New Year's celebration, they should get vaccinated now. Ivanusa believes that vaccination is the path to be followed, which brings hope that we will put the epidemic under control. He added that additional measures could reduce the intensity of the ongoing epidemic.
